The General meeting this month on Thursday, June 20th is the next time to register. At this registration the fee will be $250 per child for tackle plus late fee of $50. The Flag fee will be $125 per child plus $25 late fee. Both do not include the family participation fee of $100. Bring your forms with you already filled out from our website so we can get you right out. We will start taking the registrations at 7:30 and stop for the meeting at 8:00pm. After the meeting we will finish any remaining that need to register before leaving. The meeting normally only takes about 20 minutes.
Register by mail before June 19th to avoid the late fees.

The Homer Stallions Youth Football organization is devoted and committed to the development of fundamental youth football skills from the Flag to the Varsity levels of play (ages 5-14). This includes the teaching and development of good sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, respect, and hard work toward a common team goal via organized practices led by dedicated coaches.
Our coaches are required to be certified by our league and many pursue off season learning by attending via various local coaches clinics. We strive to teach the proper fundamentals of each position including blocking, tackling, passing, receiving and basic offensive and defensive strategies and tactics to prepare the players to be successful in high school. We evaluate and place each player according to their talent, potential, desire and attitude.
Our widget program (7, 8 & 9 yr old) is completely developmental. There is no kicking game and score is not kept and all boys will play as equal as possible. We strive to keep the number of players low enough to allow good learning and participation for all. There are 2 teams at each of the 10-12 year old age level to allow newer players or younger player who have to move up due to weight to play together at the right level for them. Our 13/14 year old teams is split purely by weight into a Varsity and a Junior Varsity, however both are at a high level of play.
Practice is held at Kevin Killmer fields at the Homer Township Sports Complex. Practice is from 5:30-7:30 Monday through Fridays for the first 4 weeks of practice and then moves to Mon, Tue, Thu thereafter. Our Widget and Pee Wee teams will probably practice at the Parker Road practice field (courtesy of Homer 33C) from 5:45 – 7:45pm to allow time to get between fields for those that may need to. Equipment hand out will be the morning of July 27 and practice starts July 29
Games schedule consists of a practice game during the third weekend of practice (Aug 17/18) and then 8 regular season games followed by a single elimination playoff (except Widgets) which can add up to 3 weeks to the schedule if a team progresses to the Championship. Games are typically on Saturday but can also be scheduled on Sundays due to other town’s field limitations. Game times vary throughout the day but younger teams typically play as early as 9am and the Varsity can play as late as 7 or 8pm depending upon the location. Schedules will be posted as soon as they become available.
The registration fee includes all equipment they need to play (see below) including supplemental insurance for any injuries provided by our league. Each player is provided with a jersey with players names will that they can keep after the season.

Any 7 year old that is not at least 60 lbs at the equipment pickup including shoes and clothing must be moved back to flag for their safety. Any weighing over 70 lbs must be moved up for the safety of the other flag players. If over 70lbs, Please contact the Football AD for confirmation.
Players may be moved according to the weight group they are in.
FOOTBALL PLAYERS: Weights will be strictly enforced by the league. Weigh-in dates are to be announced.
Important safety info: 1) No one will be able to practice with holes in their practice jersey. Please patch any holes, or replace the jersey. 2) If your child has a medical condition (allergies, asthma, etc.), please inform the person who fits his helmet. A stripe will be placed on the helmet to indicate this concern to the coaches. If the stripe is removed or lost, see coach Larry at the blue shed before or after practice.
Equipment provided includes a Helmet, Shoulder Pads, Rib Guards, Thigh Pads, Knee Pads, Hip Pads, Tail Bone pad, Game Pants, Chin Strip, Mouth Piece.
New Riddell gear is available to be bought through Riddell for use during the season. They will take orders through March to buy Stallions bags, helmets, pads, gear, etc. You can order on line. The store will be up until the last day of March. Once the store is closed, the orders will be filled in 2 -3 weeks. Everything will be delivered to the stallions and then you will be notified when you can pick it up or we can work out delivery. Use this link... Riddell
Stallions will still provide equipment to all kids in the organization. This is just a way you can purchase new equipment if you would like to.
The Spikes/cleats on the left are ok.
They are molded and NON-detachable
plastic or rubber.
Black & White are suggested.
The Spikes/cleates on the right are NOT ok. They are de-tachable. Anyone found with detachable cleates in games will be thrown out by the refs.
Metel Spikes/cleats are also not allowed.
The Stallions are part of the Southwest Midget league. We are in this league since the teams we play against are from the Southern suburbs. Again this year we will be playing the Tinley Bulldogs, Orland Pioneers, Mokena Burros, Oak Forest Raiders, Dolton Bears, New Lenox Mustangs, Frankfort Wildcats. Other teams are also in the league and can be found through the maps page. We play in the league so all teams are under the same weight restrictions and guidlines for all teams we play. As part of the league, all coaches have background checks run on them for the safety of all the children involved.
You have probably read about the recent Concussion law in Illinois which requires all high schools players to get medical approval before being allowed to return to play. Our league is making efforts to ensure we are aware of recognizing symptoms, understand basic prevention and what to do in case of a concussion. It is also important for Parents to understand the same, so please review the available information as well.

Lightning after practice starts...
If you see lightning in the area after practice starts, Please return to the field to pick-up your children. If there are storms threatening, please remain at practice in case practice has to be cancelled after starting.
The website will be updated before 5pm when practice is called off when possible. If we are at the field, we may not be able to update the website.
Weather for practice...
Please keep in mind that football and cheerleading is done at games even if it is raining. The only reason games are called is for lightning or excessively heavy rain. For this reason we enjoy practice in the rain. We will only cancel practice if we lose the fields due to excessive rain and the fields not being able to drain before practice. Before practice is called, we will check the fields and then make the decision.
