Stallions Flag Football & Cheer 2012

Teaching the basic fundamentals of football through repetition and examples in a non-scoring league.

The goal of our Flag football program is to teach the fundamentals of football without any focus on tackling or heavy contact.  Helmets are provided for protection and not as an inducement for contact.  No score is kept in the games. The fundamentals of teamwork, discipline and hard work toward a common goal are taught side by side basic football fundamentals including blocking, running, passing and catching as well as good defensive skills.  We are an in-house program playing other Homer Stallion teams.  We attempt to split our teams as equally as possible relative to age and experience and the coaches work to ensure each player has a great experience. We want them to develop a love for the game.

Complete Flag Schedule

Flag football practice starts Monday, August 5.  Equipment (helmets, mouthpieces, flags) will handed out at practice that first week.  Practice is typically held at the baseball fields at the Homer Township Sports Complex from 5:30-7pm, 3 days per week, typically Mon, Tue and Thu. However coaches have flexibility to adjust the practice schedule as best for each team and coaching staff.  Games are played on Friday nights (7pm) and Saturday mornings (around 9am).  Typically when the tackle program is home, the Flag program plays that Saturday morning before the tackle games.  When the program is away, Flag plays under the lights on Friday nights and we try to organize each game around a theme (Grandparents night, Hawaiian night, etc).  Jerseys with players names will be provided that they can keep after the season.

The times and dates are subject to change if needed.

Concussion Awareness - Awareness for parents also

Parents, you know your child best.
When in doubt, sit them out

 Concussion Awareness
You have probably read about the recent Concussion law in Illinois which requires all high schools players to get medical approval before being allowed to return to play. Our league is making efforts to ensure we are aware of recognizing symptoms, understand basic prevention and what to do in case of a concussion. It is also important for Parents to understand the same, so please review the available information as well.

Text Updates for game changes & cancellations

Text Alerts will be sent if practice is cancelled while at practice. Alerts will also be sent if games are running late.

Text Updates - Send HOMERSTALLIONS to 84483 for weather and practice cancellations and updates.

Info will be sent if it affects a good number of teams.

     Lightning after practice starts...
If you see lightning in the area after practice starts, Please return to the field to pick-up your children. If there are storms threatening, please remain at practice in case practice has to be cancelled after starting.

The website will be updated before 5pm when practice is called off when possible. If we are at the field, we may not be able to update the website.

     Weather for practice...
Please keep in mind that football and cheerleading is done at games even if it is raining. The only reason games are called is for lightning or excessively heavy rain. For this reason we enjoy practice in the rain. We will only cancel practice if we lose the fields due to excessive rain and the fields not being able to drain before practice. Before practice is called, we will check the fields and then make the decision.

         For all practices and games;
